If I understand well your question, I don't think that a 'result set' (as, say, a collection of rowids or whatever) really is identified. If you have a sort, then yes, you have a kind of 'result set' in temporary segments. Otherwise all you need is the SCN at the beginning of the query, and everything you need is either in regular blocks or 'undo' blocks. Would you have ora-1555 otherwise ?
