hi,
When you want to apply patch for your db on linux, for example, 9202, it need the hangcheck module. and this module need the redhat advanced server kernel, so if you do your rac with rh8, Can you still apply the patch?
And it is beyond the support of oracle support, when you run into bug, how to deal with it?
Why not choose rhas 2.1? Just because it is a bit expensive? Compared to the price of HW and oracle license, it is just so little expense.
I suggest you use the redhat as version.I am running rac 9202 on linux as2.1, and it is perfect(though i did hit some bug and small problem).
