Hi,
I would like to ask you if u are really facing any performance problem because of this.

YES , NEW USERS WERE UNABLE TO LOG ONTO THE APP SERVER MACHINE AFTER CPU UTILIZATION BECAME 100 % DUE TO EXCESSIVELY HIGH VALUES OF % sys

There are some things you need to look at to figure out what might be causing high %sys util.
you might want to recompile the executables and install the solaris 8 version of Oracle.

Oracle 7.3.4 REMAINS THE SAME & DOES NOT COME SEPARATELY FOR SOLARIS 8 VERSUS SOLARIS 2.6

There are some kernel tunables in 2.6 which should not be tuned in 8 because the kernel dynamically changes them according to the load on the machine.
For instance memory related kernel tunables like lotsfree, minfree, cachefree, desfree should not be set in /etc/system

WILL CHECK THESE & REVERT TO YOU Try taking this out and see if it fixes your problem. Somesh.

NOTE - CPU UTLIZATION ON DB SERVER MACHINE ONLY ABOUT 10% TO 15 % WHICH IS ALSO ON SOLARIS 8 WITH MACHINE MODEL BEING SAME AS APP SERVER (i.e. E10000)

THANKS INDEED
