 You did not say what the OS was. There are limits on the datafile sizes on different OS's that could cause you problems. Watch out for the MAXDATAFILES parameter reaching it's max limit and then you will not be able to add another datafile. You will still be able to RESIZE them to the max allowed by the OS.
