Don - Well, that certainly explains why you didn't get along with them. Nothing like the scorn of someone whose pretensions aren't taken seriously, although if you are like most of us DBAs and have exquisite people skills, you probably hid your true feelings well.

Some years ago I was interviewed by a young HR person and when they asked me the standard question "what is your greatest weakness" or some such, I chuckled and said "well I suppose the best standard answer to that question would be . . . ". They turned red. Did everything they could to sabotage my prospects, and since I didn't get an offer, I suppose they succeeded.

Yeah. The funniest thing about the whole fiasco to me was that the HR people had "special" officeswhere
the floor was raised significantly under the HR person's desk and chair. When sitting in
their office, you were looking up at them - even if they were a foot shorter! It was supposed to be
inconspicuous, but wasn't. It was supposed to make you fell little and put you in awe of them, but
I found it quite funny. It was all I could do to suppress the urge to snicker or laugh out loud.
