sequence pool

Hi,

is there a smart way to generate IDs in chunks?

getting an ID with nextval is perfectly ok most of the time, but sometimes the application would need to generate a pool of IDs and keep them for later use

as I can't manipulate the currval of the sequence, I wander what the best solution would be
