I asked that question of OWS some time ago since we appeared to have a problem with the database that pointed in that area. Now they did agree with my diagnoses of the problem and told me that it was possible to run those scripts without the DB being in restricted mode, BUT it could cause some VERY strange behavior for those other sessions running in the database and possibly a crash. Their recommendation was to run them only in restricted mode.

Hi lists
Is it mandatory that
catlog.sql, catproc.sql
should be run while database is in restricted mode.
should I run them while db is running in normal mode (users are logged in )?
any problems!!! errors !!!
