The point remains that such a broad solution makes no sense. If you get an email from a customer and it has a virus, you could say "there is definitely an association between our customers and email with viruses." But are you going to stop all email from customers?
How about just stopping all email? That would solve the problem.
Perhaps the boys in network admin need to work on a more focused solution instead of cutting off a broad source of email.
