How to notify the firing a database trigger to the java application

Dear DBA Gurus,

        I have written an after update database trigger on a particular table. The trigger gets fired and does what I want. However I want to know as to how do I notify my java application that the trigger has fired? Anybody can let me know about this? Any help in this regard will be very much appreciated.
