Add another column with the new name.
update the table and make the contents of the two columns the same and
ignore the old column. change all update insert delete procedures etc.. to
use the new column.
or
Create a new table with the correct columns. Insert all data from old table. drop old table.Rename new table to old table name Find all the dependencies that became invalid and recompile all invalid objects , grants, synonyms , etc....
