Patrice,
You could write your own simple monitoring batch file.
This could use the "soon" utility from Resource kit to resubmit itself.
It could then do a net start | find /i "list" and check the resulting errorlevel.
You could then use logevent to record to event log. Could also use blat to email you or restart the service etc.

Have you tried changing views to the application log, instead of the system log? Usually things like the management server etc, are logged under the app log.. It should be under the menu bar under view or something like that - can't quite remember.
As a side note, have you considered upgrading this to Win2K? If the service fails, the O/s will restart it for you..

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell Oracle to properly log TNS listener failures on NT servers?
I know I can set the auditing level higher in listener.ora, but all I want is for the listener to put an entry in Event Viewer when it fails. I don't want my log files to grow exponentially.
I have a server here whose TNSListener service started at 6:10 this morning, but at 7:55 the service was stopped. No record anywhere of when it went down, or the cause.
This box is outside the firewall so polling the listener via the OEM or similar tools, or snmp is not an option.
We are still on Oracle 7.3.4.4, perhaps I am expecting too much. Oracle hadn't finished integrating its software into NT at this version.
