RE: Extent allocation

Somewhere in the depths of Oracle 8.1 documentation, you will find a description of the extent algorithm. It's supposed to be more "enlightened" in allocating blocks to extents, in that it will try to allocate just what you asked for, and also try to fill holes, so it no longer necessarily rounds up to the nearest 5 blocks anymore.
