Simple. On SUN, it is enabled and doesn't work. On HP, you must see /dev/async. If you have it and if dd if=/dev/async of=/dev/null gives you "Invalid IOCTL error", then it is defined. Otherwise, it isn't.

Dear Listers,

I am wondering how can I find asyn i/o is enabled or not on HP and SUN system? We use both systems.
Is there any os command that I can use?

Thanks,

Joan
