They don't even have a release date on 9i yet. Why even
upgrade if your having no issues. There may be no new
bug support for older releases but if you are not using
features that are buggy then who cares. Now I want to
upgrade because we have a compelling reason to use some
of the newer features but that's another story. I never
upgrade just to upgrade.

Subject: Why should we go to 8.1.7?
8.1.7 is the terminal release for Oracle 8i. According to our Oracle rep,
a terminal
release, by definition, will receive 6 more months of support. That alone
seems
a sufficient reason to upgrade to 8.1.7. But, are there any other
(compelling) reasons
why we should upgrade, rather then wait for 9i?
Thanks,
Jeff T
