We ran into a situation a few years ago where we had to convert named user licenses to concurrent users and they gave 2:1, for every 2 named users we got 1 concurrent user. (The conversion was based on the price of the licenses which was 2:1 at the time). Actually this was a good conversion in the direction of named to concurrent. It's not such a good ratio in the reverse since one concurrent user can actually support quite a few 'named' users depending on the situation. I have no idea how they would translate to power units. Is Oracle asking you to convert your concurrent licenses to named or server licenses? Can't you keep your existing licenses and then add on with licenses using the new models? My understanding is once you purchase a license you have ownership of it forever. I prefer the concurrent license since I think it gives more flexibility for a lesser price. If you have to convert, I would argue for whatever usage you need in your organization. For example, if you have 100 concurrent licenses that currently support 300 possible users, I'd argue for at least a 1:3 conversion. Hello,
We're still using the 'Concurrent User'-license option.
Now, we're in the process of upgrading our number of users. This means we have to use the new 'Named Users'- or 'Power Unit'-license options.
Does anybody know how Oracle Sales translates 'number-of-concurrent-users' to 'number-of-named-users' and 'number-of-power-units' ? What conversionfactor do they use ?
I can't find anything on oracle.com or OracleStore.
The Boss wants some info, before he goes into battle against the evil salesperson.
TIA.
Greetings,
