I'm talking UNIX/SOLARIS and OLTP and FILE SYSTEM and what I do.=20
Instead of One datafile of 2gb, I have 4 512-M datafiles, this is =
because I
believe you can improve I/O throughput.
The reason for this is that Solaris takes exclusive write locks at the =
file
level (for consistency), therefore multiple write requests will result =
in
queueing, hence reduced throughput. This is my take, I'm open to =
discussion.
Just out of interest, does anybody know if this is the same on =
MICROSLOP NT

Saroj,
We generally resize until a file gets close to 2Gb. Then we will add a =
file.
There have been problems using different applications with files over =
2Gb.
