Scott,
You might also find the site amazing. The author is working with a _functional_ programming language (like, for instance, Haskell, ML, or Scheme), which, in addition to being something that there are no certification exams for, is something that that is likely to figure prominently in the future (read: our future) of IT.
Not only that, but he is WRITING his own language. Pretty damn impressive. Ever write your own language and compiler? It takes real, hard work.
And to top it off, he had a job involving maintaining a kid's web site, and has enough interest/background in linguistics to make a readable mockery of Deconstructionist literature.
I don't know the guy, but I'd wager I'd enjoy spending a meal having a conversation with him.
