Summary of Position

Installation experience of Oracle Database and Oracle applications is = required. Supported Oracle applications are AP, GL, INV, and AR. = Installation, maintenance, management, troubleshooting, and support = experience of Oracle 7.3.4.x running on HP-UX11 is minimum with Oracle = 8i and Oracle applications release 11i would be helpful.=20

Principal Accountabilities

a.. Administration and general support of Oracle database and = administration of Oracle applications.

d.. General understanding of database loading using SQL*Loader.

e.. Monitor database capacity and table space growth.

f.. Working knowledge of various Unix commands and utilities, = including vi, cron, shell scripting and awk.

a.. Application of software patches.

b.. Completing trace logs.

c.. Database tuning and monitoring.

d.. Familiarity with application tables' indexes.

e.. Perform database back-up procedures for cold/hot back-ups of = database applications.

f.. Perform database replications for testing purposes.

g.. Perform some system administration options: setting profile = options, monitoring internal managers, creating user log-ins/custom = responsibilities

Nature and Scope

The incumbent is a technical specialist in the field of Database = Administration in an Oracle operating environment. Major = responsibilities include the planning and installation of Oracle = database applications and monitoring database performance in support of = Strategic Sourcing program. The applications supported are a large data = warehouse used for the analysis of purchases and a buy-site Oracle = database used to support the sourcing of MRO items.=20

Minimum Job Requirements

The minimum requirements for this position are a college degree and two = years of Oracle database and Oracle applications experience running on = HP Unix UX operating system. Oracle D.B.A. certification is needed.
