Well, if by standard base, you mean SGA settings, then no. There is no
"standard" base. What Sean has is the filenames, locations, data vs index
vs other file locations and the like. Based upon that definition, then, yes, you can have a standard base configuration. His paper (which I read) is looking at the OFA layouts, what to name the files, what goes in which tablespace, what to name the archive logs, how to mirror, what raid levels are preferred, etc. I believe that you can have standards in those areas that would cover both the OLTP with 100 users and the DSS with only 5.

Is there a standard database? I mean, don't you think that it is impossible to do? Maybe I need an OLTP database with 100 user connection and someone else wants a DSS database with 5 connections, etc.

Regards,
Satar

	Hi Folks,

I've put together a document which specifies configuration standard
guidelines for Oracle on Win NT platform. If anyone would like to review it

I will send it to them backchannel in PDF format for feedback on same.

        Regards,
Sean :)
