If you have sufficient hardware you'll be okay using Linux. On several systems
that ran in the 6,000 dollar range, I have Oracle databaes on linux in the
range of 20 to 30 gigs with no problems and great performance. It of course is
not my top choice for Oracle, but it does a pretty good job. And, not to
mention, when I dropped all my scripts onto the linux box, they worked.. no
changes.. So less work for me. The only thing I had to install is pdksh which
is a public domain Korn shell, which by default wasn't installed. Anyway..
