>>We shut the database down
normal/abort/immediate -- does not matter hence you do not need any "media" recovery .. hence no need of archives as ur db is uptodate ...in case it it not(abort) .. ur instance recovery will handle the rest for you from ur online logs

Subject: Database Recovery question
I have a database that was in archivelog mode. We shut the database down and did a full backup using Veritos. We want to restore the database to a different machine (same SID, file structure, etc). Are any archivelogs going to need to be applied or will we not need them since we are restoring from a cold backup?
This is Oracle 8.0.5/HPUX.
