Hello all,
Chris has scared me. Is anyone running 8.1.6 on HP/UX and running into these problems that Chris described earlier (shown below)?
HELP! We are in sad shape with this error in 8.1.5 and were looking forward to upgrading to 8.1.6 to get out of this mess and to use some new features. This error renders DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA useless.
Thanks
Lisa
Before 8.1.6, this schema was on 7.3.4. In production we will be running
OPS, so we want to take advantage of the OPS improvements in 8.1.6. If the
fix is in 8.1.7 then I'm hoping that they backport it to 8.1.6.
The developers hate this bug, because they have to stop developing while I
drop the views, export the schema, then put the views back. So everyone will
be happy once I get a fix.
What don't you like about HP/UX?

Lucky dog, running Solaris... wish we were. So far I'm not a fan of HPUX. You didn't have this problem in 8.1.5? Which version are you backporting to?

Yes, it is Oracle 8.1.6, running on Solaris 2.7. I think I surprised OWS when I responded to them that the "identify the bad rows" script also returned the error. The iTAR mentions that this is supposed to be fixed in 8.1.7 and 8.2, which doesn't help cause I'm not upgrading. Backport it baby...

Hi Chris, Yes I've run into this too, we are 8.1.5 HPUX. I getit when I select * from DBA_OBJ_DEPENDENCIES. The only way out of this particular mess for us is upgrade to 8.1.6 (per support). It's the root of a lot of other bugs in our version. But you are seeing this in 8.1.6??? Now I'm scared. What OS are you running?
nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! -----Original Message----- From: Grabowy, Chris [<mailto:cgrabowy_at_fcg.com>] Sent: Monday, August 07, 2000 2:55 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Subject: "ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop in user data" during export. I receive the following error when I export a schema on a Oracle 8.1.6 database. EXP-00056: ORACLE error 1436 encountered ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop in user data EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully One of the schemas on that database originally came from an Oracle 7.3.4 database. I have opened up "yet another unresponsive" iTAR. There is a known bug involving views corrupting the dictionary, causing exports to fail. OWS responded with a series of scripts to identify and cleanup the dictionary, but the "identify" script also returns ORA-01436. Which means the "cleanup" script has nothing to cleanup. So I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem, and what has been done??
