I have heard both sides of the argument. Some companies have OCP requirement for employment. Their argument they have said if the DBA is certified, their training expenses are less from the subject matter. Also another valid point which I kind of agree to, is they are certain about the capabilities of the individual (he/she) has the capabilities of self-study. COULD do better on the job. Is interested in succeeding, etc., etc.

I don't think OCP itself is not bad, but I would agree that there should be a differentiation between experienced and inexperienced DBA's.
