Time precision

Good Morning,

I have been asked if a date/time down to the microsecond as stored in DB2 can be stored in Oracle with the same precision.

My gut feeling is that it can but I would like a confirmation (one way or the other) from the list.

How precise is the date datatype?

If so how can it be displayed to show the precision?

Oracle Env't: Oracle 8.1.5, HP-UX 11.0 (64 bit)
