RE: Autoextend Data files - Corruption???

I've never experienced a corruption, but it does have it's problems.

On 7.3.3.5 I've had the pleasure of resizing a file to a size greater than what was available on the disk. ( trying to use all the disk you see, and miscalculated )

Oracle filled up the disk and generated an error.

Attempting to bring the datafile back online was impossible, because Oracle needed a little space on the disk to do it ( don't know why )

This required copying the file to a new location, resizing it smaller, then moving it back.

It would be nice if Oracle did an internal calculation and threw an error *before* extending the file.
