Hi I am getting the same error.
I have installed Oracle 10G in a Solaris Server. I restarted the server and from that time onwards I am not able to start the database. When i try to start the database using SYSDBA Privileges it gives me an ORA-01031: insufficient privileges !!

------------------------------------------------
bash-2.05$ sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Mon Mar 31 19:42:46 2008

Copyright (c) 1982, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved.

ERROR:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

------------------------------------------------

Is it possible to change the privileges? Pls help.

Regards,
Guru
