I've been given a project to implement a pl/sql package which will calculate the tax a person has to pay in the UK. Has anyone had to do this already? Any help would be great.

Thanks

Paul

Unfortunately, I have no idea about British tax system. Did you get familiar with it? If not, you should have - otherwise, how do you plan to implement it?

We are here to help when you are stuck, when you ask a question about a specific problem. In my opinion, yours is just too broad at the moment.

Do you have to factor in how dodgy your Chartered Accountant is?

Well, this question is too vague. It would be good to notice which position you are working at (project manager, SW architect, SW developer, ...) and what kind of help you expect.

Before starting any work, read something about Software development process. Oracle (even database design) plays role in later stages than after this (very vague) request stating.

My guess would be that the position is student and the expected level of help is a full and complete solution Wink

I'm looking for as much as I can get! I'm not a student although I do work at a Uni. I've got to write a pl/sql package which will determine an employees paye tax payable per month with the ability to allow for potential Scottish tax amendments, base rate and 1 month adjustments as well as a P45 checker.

I only ask as I know for a fact that someone out there must have already done this. Otherwise I'll have to do it the hard way and write it myself.

This is not really what this site is about. We try not to just hand out complete solutions to people. Our intention is to help people work their way through their own problems. We require that they put in most of the effort, we will guide them in the direction of what they need to do, what they need to be reading etc. First thing that you would have to do is show us that you have at least put in some of your own effort.
Cheers
Jim
