We're buying a software package which will have Oracle on an HP OpenVMS server for its database. We won't be doing any development in Oracle but we are responsible for implementing network solutions to ensure database availability per our business requirements. This means redundancy, replication and disaster recovery solutions. Our business requirement is that the database be unavailable no longer than 4 hours worse case. We have multiple company offices in different cities with a large telecom pipe between them so we would plan to use one of those offices as our disaster recovery site.

We know there are tools available under Enterprise(ie Dataguard) to achieve these solutions but we want to know if and how we could achieve these solutions under Standard Edition.

Any help anyone can give will be appreciated..thank you.

I think standby database without using DataGuard is available in SE.
