Status Pending [message #309436]

This is my first install of Oracle. After installation completed successfully I try to log onto the databse and get the following error:

java.lang.Exception: Exception in sending Request :: null

and in the general information section of the console the Status is Status Pending. Anyone have this probelm and how was it solved?

What tool are you using to connect (possibly SQL Developer)? How did you start it? Can you connect via sqlplus?

I am trying to connect through the url using Enterprise Manager 10g. I have also tried to connect using sql+ and get the following error:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
