Oracle apps is a ERP package which is made up using the software primarily oracle as a backend and d2k as a front end.
Oracle apps reports are same as D2k reports.Only thing is they use exits(specifically defined for ERP) and use them in report.
d2k report ==bitmap image
Apps report ==character mode

Apps Reports can be combined with other tools like Optio Designer using which the report can be converted into bitmap.
The flow is that the text output will be redirected to a virtual printer. This is called Optio Printer. This is a virtual printer and does not exist physically. Here the Apps output will be input to the Optio Printer, where in the output will be converted into a Bitmap report.
You can also add your own customizations and formattings here.
