Dears,

after installing 10g DB on my personel pc (Win XP 512M 60G), it was very very slow at startup?????

What is the problem? How can i fixed this problem?
or install 9i instead??

Too small memory.
Try to use smaller SGA but definitively not memory enough.

U can do one thing..
Go to control panel-administrator-services.
u will see all the services of oracle there.
So u can switch tat services from automatic to manual . so tat when u need oracle u go there and start the services.
By doing this your pc will boot fast.

go to windows >> run >> services.msc

You might want to put the following in Manual:

Oracle DB console
Oracle listener
Oracle service
Oracle job sheduler

Apart from that you might want to run msconfig/startup and disable the unwanted programs such as Y! messenger, Acrobat products, real products etc. if you have them.

You might see a bit of quick startup.
