Hi,
kindly provide me how can I upgrade my oracle 8.1.5 s/w to 8.1.6?
Os is SunOs 5.7

Kindly correct me if I am wrong in following details

oracle 8i has got only 3 releases

8.1.5 is the first one
8.1.6 is the second one
8.1.7 is the third one

If you have the CD, then yuo have a readme file that explains how to install it.
In addition, you have an Oracle8i Migration book to help you either on CD on online.

If you don't have the software, Oracle will not provide it to you as 8.1.7 was desupported almost 4 years ago.

Please clear me if I want upgrade from 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 then do I require oracle 8.1.6 sofware or just a patch will do?

You must have 8.1.6, it is a new release not a patch.
