Hi all,
Is it advisable to back-up control files to tape?
My backup strategy involves daily RMAN backups, including auto-backup of the control file. In addition I have one control file written to tape.
Is this advisable? Last night there was a locking issue between the database and the tape archiver (a 1 in a million chance I reckon, but it happened) which brought the database down entirely.
The answer seems obvious to me: don't write the control file to tape. But I (and others I am sure) would appreciate opinions from the more learned Oracle users around.
Thanks!

The way I suggest it, there is no relation at all.
"My" way does not use RMAN.
You could also use manual RMAN backup of control file, it is a third way.
