Im using ora 9i, with win 2000 server.
my OS was currupted so that I repaired the registry.
After the repair, my system able to logged in; but oracle was not loaded; and I searched in services.msc and find NO services associated with ORACLE.
I cannot able to take the backup by EXP option too.So i backup d:\oracle\oradata\*.dat files and
bdump and cdump files in admin folder; And i reinstalled the ORACLE; now its able to logged in to the new oracle database;
But my datas are in THE d:\oracle\oradata\*.dat files;
i need to use those datas in .DAT FILES; how to do that;
pls anyone help me; thanks in advance;
pls do the necessary;

Thanks for your reply ,Michel Cadot,
Yes sir i have both files, init.ora and spfiles;
but i dont know how to use ORADIM command sir;
my previous instance name is ORASRV;
and my new instance name is HTGORA;(since ORASRV not loading i reinstall the ORA 9i server)
sir, i backed up the d:\oracle\ora\oradata\*.dat files
and d:\orasrv\ADMIN\orasrv files;
I cannot able to log on using , instance ORASRV ;
but at first i can able to log in new instance HTGORA;
Sorry sir, i tryed a bad logic, from my friend ,
i) I stopped the service HTGORA in SERVICE.MSC
ii) then I renamed a ams0708.dat;
iii) then i found "oracle shutdown or initialisation error"
now i restart the HTGORA service, but still i cant able to log in THE NEW INSTANCE TOO;
sir, my need is, to copy all the tables in the ORASRV instance
or restore the ORASRV instance;
pls help me how to do it sir,
I m very thankful to u
Thanks
Bala

YOu installed a new oracle database of name HTGORA.
Then Automatically oracle must have created an instance of the name HTGORA.
YOu have all the controlfiles,datafiles of the previous database.
JUst shutdown the new database.Overwrite all the existing files to the previous datafiles.
Recreate password file.
startup

Sir, i dismouted the database and i copied every file of old database into new database.
orasrv(old instance) & HTGORA (NEW INSTANCE)
copy d:\oracle\admin\ORASRV d:\oracle\admin\HTGORA
copy d:\oracle\oradata\orasrv\*.* d:\oracle\oradata\htgora\*.*
and i write the password too.
but after a restart, i found
first "TNS LISTER COULD NOT RESOLVE THE SERVICE NAME"
and after a two or 3 tries, i m getting this,
"ORA-01033 oracle initialization or shutdown in progress"
SIR, i need the data, pls guide me to solve this problem sir;
everybody is waiting for me to correct the problem sir;
pls give your valuable ideas to come out of this error.
Thanking u

BRIAN SIR, thanks for your reply,
i tryed with oradim
ORADIM -startup -sid orasrv -usrpwd manager -starttype SRVC,INST -pfile D:\ORACLE\ADMIN\ORASRV\PFILE\INIT.ORA
DIM-00011: The service does not exists
O/S-Error: (OS 1060)The specified service does not exists as an installed service.
Sir,since the OS was corrupted, i repaired the OS and REGISTRY.
everything working fine except oracle.I went into services.msc to start the oracle services;
i found no services named in oracle.
i searched through registry for oracle.exe; i found no entries;
so i reinstalled the ORACLE,and i take backup of d:\oracle\oradata\*.* and
d:\oracle\admin\*.*
And i installed new instance HTGORA in the same OS.
THE old oracle instance, not working was, ORASRV.
pls instruct me, how to solve this problem;
I want the data from ORASRV instance;
i have all the control files and spfile
sir, dont mistake me, pls do the favour in time , Thank u sir,
Bala

-SHUTDOWN -SID sid | -ASMSID sid [-SYSPWD pass]
[-SHUTTYPE srvc|inst|srvc,inst] [-SHUTMODE normal|immediate|abort]
Query for help by specifying the following parameters: -? | -h | -help
Use -NEW to create a new service/instance.
Quote: | And i installed new instance HTGORA in the same OS.
THE old oracle instance, not working was, ORASRV.
|
The db_name parameter in ora.init must be the same the db name in files, that the old name.

Michel
