Hello All,
We are currently on version 9i and planning on upgrading. I was insisting my management to upgrade to 10g but my management wants to upgrade it to 11g instead of upgrading it to 10g first and then 11g after couple of years.
I want experts opinion on this matter. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

10g or 11g is something meaningless.
Do you mean 10.1, 10.2, 11.1, 11.2?
Saying 11g crashes OS, is also meaningless without telling in which case (OS version , service pack, installed patches, Oracle version up to 5 decimals). 10g also crashes OS in this case.
If you are planning to upgrade, upgrade to 11.2, do not upgrade to something that is obsolete.
Remember these dates:
10.1 (obsolete): end of premier support: 01/2009, end of extended suppport: 01/2012
10.2 (obsolete): 07/2010, 07/2013
11.1: 08/2012, 08/2015
11.2: 01/2015, 01/2018
Regards
Michel
