Hi,

I have a recovery catalog and Oracle 9i database. Currently when i run disk backup it goes to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ directory.

I want to backup the files to a specific location. Is there a V$ view which shows the default disk backup location and how do I change it?

Thanks in advance

Use RMAN "show" command.

'show all' gives default device type but not location:

CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default

Since you haven't configured the location $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ is the default location.

Use CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '<location/format>'

Check deviceConf for details.
