Dear all,
we have a heavily used oracle database running under window2K server. The database version is 8i and since the application is certified for 8i only: management does not like to upgrade the database to 9i or 10G. The database size is less than 15GB. Lately we see a spike in the virtual memory and reaches close to 2GB and the database hang and we see the ORA-04030 message.
Any suggestion, help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for the interest. However it is the classic chicken and egg problem. To be honest, we don't know why the virtual memory has been spiked lately since they have been no change to database or the window OS. We are looking for the solutions as how to tame the spike in virtual memory usage when we have plenty of physical memory still available.
Thanks.
