Hello All,

I'm just working on Oracle 10g rel 2 on Linux AS4. I've create my database using dbca and I've also opted for OEM while creating.

But after the successful creation of my database , I can't access my database . It's showing Instance is down due to

ORA-12541: TNS:no listener (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)

Attached is the file regarding that.

Please help me out I'm a newbie on OEM.

Regards,
Raj

You do NOT need any listener or OEM to start Oracle.

One does require any listener to access Oracle;
as long as you can login to the system hosting the Oracle DB.

Yes, if we use "tns_entry" with username/password.

NO! does not use TCP/IP but BEQ & can be done as
SQL> connect / as sysdba
WITHOUT any TNS entry.

>WITHOUT any TNS entry.
Yes, right, but i say WITH TNS entry we can't connect to database when listener is down(stop).
