Hello,

I installed Oracle 10g release 2 under Windows 2003. I can run Enterprise Manager from client under Windows XP via http://myaddress:1158/em. I can connect to database using different software tools like TOAD. But, when I install Oracle 10g release 2 client software (Administrator type) and start OEM Java Console, I cannot connect to database. I cannot add database manually to tree because nothing happens when I enter required fields and press Ok button. But, I can add selected databases from tnsnames.ora (second option) and then when I choose database and enter username, password in Database Connect Information dialog and press Ok button, NOTHING happens! No error messages.

Why?

I can't run emctl command/program. I get a message 'emctl is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file'

Apparently your path variable is set correctly. What is the output of:

c:\> path

The output is

D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\bin;
and paths of other installed programs

I can start java console from command prompt (oemapp), but I don't have emctl installed on my computer. There is no such exe or batch file.

Sorry, I overlooked that you only have the client installed.

Is the Oracle path at the beginning of your path variable?

You may want to enable tracing. The link is for 9i, but should also work for 10g (I don't have a 10g client to test against).

I enabled tracing and the listing after executing oemapp trace console >>oem.log is in the attached file.
