hi frindz when i startup database that time oracle gives error that pfile does not exise and which file database is tring to find is with my old database SID name so plz tell me how to change these values so that my database start properly.

I don't understand what you have or have not.
Do you have a pfile?
Do you have a spfile?
Do you have a pfile for your current SID or another one?
Same question for spfile.

Copy and paste the error you got, don't just describe it.

Read and follow OraFAQ Forum Guide, especially what is said about IM speak.
Always post your Oracle version (4 decimals).

database is tring to find a file named spfileora25.ora but i have a file spfiletestora.ora

my databse SID name is testora
earlier i had a databse with sid ora25.

So change your ORACLE_SID setting.

how to change ORACLE_SID settings i don't want to change my current SID name.

in V$parameter table parameter spfile values is /home/oracle/product/10.1.03/dbs/spfileora25.ora
