Sorry once again typed here the content,

I am having 3 oracle client machines(each with sql*plus or Toad tool),all these 3 client are to be connected through Jboss-4.0.5(application server) to Oracle 10g database server.

[ all 3 clients + 1 application server + 1 database server are with different ip address]


Question-1

Is it possible to convert a running Oracle-10.1.0.2.0 database server in Windows server-2003 os from dedicated server-mode to shared server-mode ?

What all are the init parameters I have to change ?
So far I have changed (a) alter system set shared_servers=5;
(b) alter system set dispatchers=(pro=tcp)(dis=3);
(c) alter system set max_dispatchers=10;
(d) alter system set shared_server_sessions=5;
(e) alter system set circuits=300;

The link I listed above provides all the details in regards to configuring shared server mode. 10g provides automatic shared server configuration, so really the only parameter that needs to be set is SHARED_SERVER. This is a dynamic parameter and a restart isn't necessary.

The client doesn't have a listener, however the server side listener doesn't require any additional configuration for shared server mode. The client's tnsnames can be configured following Configuring Clients for Environments Using Both Dedicated Server and Shared Server.
