HOW to invoke FILE from FORM [message #279033]

I know that when when write :-

host('cmd');
--or
host('C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE');

in when-button-pressed trigger then I can invoke the program.
but what about when I want to
invoke file ( by any extension except exe)
How should I write the code that invoke the file ????

I know the way
put emp.xls file in c:\
and then execute my code ..... Nod
