Hi please see the followin output .

SQL> archive log list
Database log mode Archive Mode
Automatic archival Enabled
Archive destination USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
Oldest online log sequence 1
Next log sequence to archive 3
Current log sequence 3

SQL> show parameter log_archive_start

NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------
log_archive_start boolean FALSE


Automatic archival is ENABLED, but log_archive_start value is FALSE .Can someone tell me from where Oracle is picking this value ? i reboot the database but same thing .

Please help me

LOG_ARCHIVE_START initialization parameter was deprecated as of Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1).

Does it mean it is recording this value in CONTROL FILE ???

It means that Oracle does not care of its value.
If you are in ARCHIVELOG mode then archiving is activated.
