Hi,

Is there any sure way of knowing if oracle is installed in a unix server (the instance may or may not be running). For example if I want to find out if db2 is installed in a linux server, i would just querry the rpmdb and get the info on installed db2.

As most of the params are configurable in oracle, what is the one sure way to find out if there is a sane copy of oracle installed?

Thanks,
kv
