I have been starting to use OEM 10g and am configuring backups throught the maintenance portion. Is there a way to get backup success/failure notification sent to an email address?

Thanks

I read that documant but cannot seem to decifer which metric will cause a message to be sent when the backup fails. Can you point me to the correct metric?

Thanks

Why don't you use shell scripts?

It would be nice since Oracle supplies a tool to do backups such as within 10g Database Control, that there was some easy way to get an email notification if the backup failed for some reason. If you drill down through the backup jobs you can see it has failed but an automatic notification would be nice.

If I am missing something can someone point me in the right direction.

thanks

Were you able to accomplish the backup email notification? I am looking for the same thing.

I have Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g.
I want to receive an email from the schedule backup job, weather succesful or not. Can this be done in the Oracle enterprise manager. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thank you

This is very strange, found it after atleast 3 hours of searching/guessing -

1. Preferences (Top right corner, very small fonts)
2. rules
3. create
4. give a name
5. click on Jobs tab.
6. Select 'Specific Jobs' and click on GO
7. Your job should already be listed there if created.
8. Check the desired job
9. Then select the 'Job status' desired (Running,Succeeded,etc..)

The rest is self explanatory. Test the notification.

Perhaps it is, but just to clarify for others:
Once you select the job, click on the "Edit" button, then on top menu click on "Access";
There just select (flag) the notifications you wish to receive: Scheduled, Running, Suspended, Succeeded, Problems and/or Action Required

Good luck!
