Hi,
I am newbie to the warehouse builder tool and I have a fundamental question with regards to understanding the concept of a design and a runtime repository. I would be very grateful if someone could give me a very short description of the concept and the idea of the two repositories.
TIA

You have to understand the environment first, the design aspect is what warehouse builder does, warehouse builder is Oracle's tool that design and deploy enterprise data warehouses, data marts and business intelligence applications.
Warehouse enables you to design and create your database schema.
Runtime Repository stores the data loaded from the sources in a schema you design and create it also holds audit information on the loading processes that move the data into this schema. find the attached document
