Hi Experts,

I am having a tablespace/dbf which the size is 8GB now I want to spit this into two as 4GB each. How to do it? Please kindly help me. I think there is no need to keep on increasing the tablepsace/dbf when it is nearing the target and it is danger also.

My version of Oracle is 8i and release 8.1.7.

Can anyone help me in this regard?

Can't be done (in 8.1.7).

The best you can do is add another datafile to this tablespace.

1, you can export the tables on this tablespace, then drop the tablespace, recreate it with two or more smaller data files, and them import it.

2, If the tablespace is LMT mode, you can add a new datafile to this tablespace, then move some tables, then try to resize the first data file to smaller one.

Create 2 new tablespaces, move the table to them as you want (alter table move) and drop tbe old tablespace.
