I have oracle database on 10.1.0.2 on linux and the NLS_CHARACTERSET is AL32UTF8
and NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET is UTF8.
Now i need to change the nls_characterset from AL32UTF8 to UTF8.
Please provide me the steps for characterset conversion.

Also i have few doubts:

1. Is there any data loss during this conversion.
2. Can we change the characterset for only one schema.
3. How to crosscheck after conversion, if conversion successfully complete.

Thanks in Advance.
Gulshan

It may be

2. Can we change the characterset for only one schema.
No

3. How to crosscheck after conversion, if conversion successfully complete.
Do it before using csscan.

In addition and most important: DON'T USE UTF8, it is an obsolete character set.

Michel

Could you please provide me the steps for conversion?

They are describe in documentation.

You should ask your client what is the reason to go to hell. There WILL have problems in the future. Maybe it is a good thing for you as you have to make another migration in a while.
