They are not expired , they are obsolete. Do you know the difference of obsolete and expired?

Thanks Arju!

I knew the difference between of obsolete and expired.

The expired means to
Quote:

Object is not found either in file system (for DISK) or in the media manager (for sbt). For a backup set to be EXPIRED, all backup pieces in the set must be EXPIRED.

And the obsolete means to
Quote:

An RMAN backup or image copy is obsolete when it is no longer needed for media recovery.
When multiple more recent backups and copies exist. A retention policy determines when a backup or copy is obsolete.

And you see, I have already had the newest backups which is listed above.

May you look at these command following with my backup pieces operations
RMAN> crosscheck backup;

allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=132 devtype=DISK
crosschecked backup piece: found to be 'AVAILABLE'
backup piece handle=E:\RMAN\IBM\BACKUPNEO_DB_0BISIKTC_11_1 recid=4 stamp=6339511
48
crosschecked backup piece: found to be 'AVAILABLE'
backup piece handle=E:\RMAN\IBM\BACKUPNEO_DB_0CISINSL_12_1 recid=5 stamp=6339541

crosschecked backup piece: found to be 'AVAILABLE'
backup piece handle=E:\RMAN\IBM\BACKUPNEO_DB_0IITDQ6L_18_1 recid=8 stamp=6348413

crosschecked backup piece: found to be 'AVAILABLE'
backup piece handle=E:\RMAN\IBM\BACKUPNEO_DB_0JITDT3U_19_1 recid=9 stamp=6348442
88
crosschecked backup piece: found to be 'AVAILABLE'
backup piece handle=C:\ORACLE\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\NEO\AUTOBACKUP\2007_10_01\O1_M
F_S_634844291_3J1MJMWB_.BKP recid=10 stamp=634844291
Crosschecked 7 objects

RMAN> delete noprompt obsolete;

RMAN retention policy will be applied to the command
RMAN retention policy is set to recovery window of 4 days
using channel ORA_DISK_1
no obsolete backups found

RMAN>

So that, I did not really about my mistake.

Thank you for your guide!

You need the backups from 22-SEP-07 to satisfy your RECOVERY WINDOWS OF 4 DAYS, that's why they are not obsolete.

Try 'list obsolete' and 'delete obsolete' RMAN commands.

What's that going to matter?? Check the OP's RECOVERY WINDOW.

I am having a similar concern. So i decided to read through the RMAN forums before re-opening a similar question.

Can someone explain why we need files that seem to be outside of the Retention window to satisfy a restore during the window?

Why are those 22-SEP-2007 files needed to restore within the 4 day restoration window?

Thanks for your help...
