HI, I wanted to know if one can find out the server hostname,
port & the service id through Pro C/C++ code .
I dont want to use tnsping
but want to write a client which would retieve me these details

even a java code will do

any help is appreciated

You can do the same thing that tnsping: find tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files and scan them till you find the service you are asking.
Is there a reason you don't want to use tnsping?
